Mysterious and Breathtaking Croatia

Posted in Croatia,Europe,Travel and Adventure by Administrator on the April 10th, 2026

Before I went to Croatia, I knew nothing about it. After I went there, I absolutely love it. Croatia is a country located in Central and Southeast on the coast of the Adriatic Sea. It borders Slovenia to the northwest, Hungary to the northeast, Serbia to the east, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro to the southeast, and shares a maritime border with Italy to the west. The landscape is so beautiful that it made a lasting impression. I like Plitvice Lakes National Park, located in the dense mountains and surrounded by trees, this 16 lakes area is joined by waterfalls, walkways and hiking trails. It was such a pleasant walk around the trails and the view is stunning.

I was lucky to see a beautiful sunset at the ancient sea city of Zadar. On the waterfront, hearing the modern Sea Organ and Sun Salutation, watching an amazing solar light and seeing the amazing sunset colors, the atmosphere made me wanting to stay in the moment forever.

My favorite city is Dubrovnik where it was the ‘King’s Landing’ in Game of Thrones. Being a fan of the TV series, I was told many scenes in Game of Thrones were filmed in Croatia. The Nobel Prize winning writer Bernard Shaw once said: “If you want to see heaven on earth, come to Dubrovnik”. I took a city wall walking tour and the view was breathtaking where I saw the old town, the city walls, the defensive tower, the Rector’s Palace, and the Franciscan Monastery, all within a close distance.

Split is the second largest city in Croatia. The city has many ancient Roman style buildings, which date back to over 1,700 years. The most famous are the ruins of Diocletian’s Palace, which was built in the fourth century AD. On the way to Dubrovnik, we passed an important bridge that connecting north and south Croatia.

The Croatian capital Zagreb is full of beautiful Gothic architecture. In downtown, it was interesting to pass by a Museum of Broken Relationships and a 15th century church with the original ceramic tile roof. Last but not the least, I had the best and the freshest seafood at a local restaurant in Dubrovnik, it was so delicious. I am so glad I went to Croatia.
